Can you also use a water ionizer to make water for irons or steamers? So lime-free?

Is a water ionizer suitable for producing low-lime to lime-free water?

A water ionizer first filters the water through several activated carbon filter layers. The one or two filter cartridges are usually integrated into the device. Fortunately, the filters do not filter the minerals in the water, otherwise it would be a reverse osmosis system.

The minerals are then separated from each other by the electrodes and the membranes in between. So you then have two different waters:

  1. Water that contains more alkaline minerals than acidic ones and also contains the very important hydrogen
  2. A second water that contains more acidic minerals and contains oxygen instead of hydrogen

Is calcium in water good or bad for the organism?

Lime properties of alkaline water

Since alkaline water contains many alkaline minerals, more calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium are dissolved in it, so in popular language:

It is more calcareous.

After most of the hydrogen has evaporated from the alkaline water in the first 60-180 minutes, most of the calcium dissolved in the water precipitates.
The limescale deposits are harmless calcium/potassium crystals that fall out again due to the increased alkaline mineral content (potassium, magnesium, potassium) when the water is no longer as active as when it was filled and can no longer hold them.
You can find out more about this in the FAQ's in this FAQ article: www.aquacentrum.de/faqs/erhoehter-calcium-portion-im-basischen-aktivwasser/

So after a while or the next day you will have turned the alkaline, calcareous water into soft alkaline water and could use it in a steam iron or steamer.

Lime properties of acidic water

With acidic “wastewater” you have few lime-forming minerals to begin with, and it is also slightly disinfectant, depending on the chloride content in your tap water. The higher the chloride content in the tap water, the more disinfectant the acidic water is. Of course, this assumes that you have produced as much acidic water as possible.

So acidic water is also an option.

Summary:

In summary, I can recommend that you try it yourself, everyone has one here four-week test phase, which can be extended to 6 weeks: www.aquacentrum.de/satisfactionguarantee/
