Dear Mr. Akgün, as discussed on the phone the day before yesterday, I need an under-counter ionizer. I have the following questions: 1.) Can I connect the ionizer to my reverse osmosis system (Bestwater Jungbrunnen 66-10)? That is, that the ionizer is not connected to the water connection, but to the output of my reverse osmosis system so that the ionizer is operated directly with filtered water. 2.) Unfortunately, you cannot simply install a reverse osmosis system before the water ionizer. use, since reverse osmosis systems with a tank do not generate a regular pressure and can hardly maintain the required flow rate of 1 liter/minute and the pressure of 2 bar. Direct-flow reverse osmosis systems without a pressure booster pump do not provide the required pressure, or... The back pressure from the downstream water ionizer reduces the flow rate too much, so this technique is also not an option. The Morion reverse osmosis system would work, as it always delivers a constant pressure of the reverse osmosis water, since the tank draws its pressure from the mains water pressure. However, I suggest that you use tap water directly for the water ionizer, since it also filters the water with activated carbon media, just like any reverse osmosis system. The membranes must not filter chemicals, which is why every reverse osmosis system always has several pre-filters/activated carbon filters integrated. How many filters does the system have? Most modern water ionizers use two pre-filters, often very large, multi-layered activated carbon pre-filters. Some contain silicon and calcium layers for softer water. 4.) When do the filters need to be changed? Every filter should be changed every 6 to 12 to a maximum of 18 months, even if not many pollutants are expected in the water. It has simply been in the water for too long, and accumulated pollutants could be released back into the flowing water. The PPM value you are referring to is the mineral content in the water, i.e., how conductive the water is, how many electrically conductive substances it contains. All I can say is that, depending on the water, the PPM value, i.e., the conductivity, can even increase, because if your tap water has more alkaline minerals, the concentrate made from it will also have more alkaline minerals, while the acidic side will have fewer acidic minerals, i.e., a total of more minerals.
