What is the difference between Kangen Water® and activated water?

Following one Excerpt from the book “Karl Heinz Asenbaum: Electro-activated water – an invention with extraordinary potential. Water ionizers from A – Z” Copyright 2013 www.euromultimedia.de

  • Kangen® Water® is the brand name for activated water, protected by the traditional Japanese company Enagic® since 2005, which was produced using a device from this manufacturer. These devices, for example offered in Europe by structural distributors under the type name Leveluk TM, are similar to the water ionizers from other manufacturers in terms of structure and electrolysis performance.
  • The term Kangen® water is only used in the operating instructions for alkaline active water pH 8,5, pH 9, pH 9,5 and pH 11. Filtered and acidic water is not referred to as Kangen® water there. Kangen Water® is therefore fully alkaline active water.
  • However, water with pH 11 is not drinking water. Therefore, “Strong Kangen® Water” (pH 11) comes with a warning not to drink it. You should use it to remove stubborn greasy stains, wash fish, meat and vegetables and clean the floor.
  • But there is a special feature of the Leveluk TM devices: to produce “Strong Acidic Water” (—> Anolyte) and “Strong Kangen Water®” (—>Catholyte), the devices are equipped with a liquid tank into which an “Electrolysis Enhancer for producing strong acidic water” manufactured exclusively by the Enagic® Osaka Factory is filled, which is mixed with the water in the correct dosage when the appropriate operating level is selected.
  • This liquid electrolysis enhancer differs from an ordinary saline solution (NaCl) in water in that it also contains sodium hypochlorite (NaClO - hypochlorous acid or "Eau de Labarraque"). Sodium hypochlorite, for example, is the main active ingredient in disinfecting and bleaching household cleaners and is also advertised as “active chlorine”.
  • I can't see a need for this addition, since when adding table salt to any water ionizer with a feed shaft for salt crystals, large quantities of hypochlorous acid are produced in the anode chamber anyway. Hypochlorous acid is a key effective factor of Anolyt in terms of the disinfecting power of oxidative water. I suspect that the hypochlorite additive in the “Electrolysis Enhancer” serves primarily to keep the saline solution in a germ-free state over a long period of time before use. The bottles also have no expiry date.
  • Industrial devices for producing anolyte also work with liquid salt (brine), as this can be dosed more precisely than by adding crystal salt, which dissolves in the water in different quantities and speeds.
  • Unlike industrial devices, which have precise flow control of the feed water, the water flow cannot be precisely controlled with Leveluk® devices because there is no real-time flow display. So you have to use the tap lever according to your feeling, as the device can only be connected with a deflection aerator. So you don't get a precisely predictable result. The problem can be controlled with an alternative water connection that ensures precise regulation of the flow and thus constant results. We send a device like this with every Kangen.

Installation of the Kangen Enagic Leveluk SD 501 water ionizer

Three installation options: on the tap, firmly on the cold water pipe and as an under-sink ionizer

In addition to the single standard installation variant, namely installation on the tap, we also offer you two additional installation options. On the one hand, this is possible through the use of other pressure-tight connections and adapters. And on the other hand, through a special tap, a safety tap. More on that below.

1. Simple: The Kangen Enagic Leveluk SD 501 installed directly on the tap

The Kangen Enagic – like all flow-through water ionizers – can be installed directly on the tap. In the fee set for the large plastic diverter valve, which is supplied as standard, we have already pre-installed a very small and very robust diverter valve. Three adapters for rarer faucet thread sizes are also included.

The supplied external flow rate regulating valve is mounted on the water inlet hose during the tap installation for one-time adjustment of the water flow. It replaces the dial of the Dion Family or other water ionizers with a dial (e.g. Aquion 2000, Aquion 3000).

Diverter Valve Faucet Installation Adapter Water Filter Water IonizerFlow volume regulator valve water ionizer faucet installation

2. Comfortable: The kangen Enagic Leveluk SD 501 is firmly attached to the cold water pipe

A much less common option for connecting the ionizer is the permanent water connection (often also called permanent installation). To do this, a supplied > T-piece (3/8" inch thread, pictured on the right) is installed after the corner valve under your sink counter between the cold water hose of your tap. From here, the direct connection can be made using the included 1/4" hose. In order to lead the (6,25mm) 1/4" hose upwards to the water ionizer, a hole or bushing with a diameter of 6,5 .XNUMXmm needed.

The Kangen Enagic is then turned on and off via the flow regulator mounted on the inlet hose at the top in front of the ionizer.

john-guest-38-14

3. Unique and visually appealing: The Kangen Enagic Leveluk D 501 as an under-table ionizer

Unique in the world, we can even offer you an under-table installation of the Kangen Enagic Leveluk SD 501 and other Kangen devices. This is not necessarily recommended because it Undersink Water Ionizer, which are designed precisely for this purpose, but if you really want that, we will be happy to support you with your wishes.

The existing faucet is not replaced. The additional safety tap is installed on your sink with a 12 mm hole and houses the outlet for the alkaline active water. The acidic water is drained under the sink into the existing waste pipe via an adapter. Descaling is carried out via a service pipe section, which we also thought of.

> The most important FAQ's about alkaline water

Kangen Water® has been a copyrighted term since 2005. This is activated water that has been treated (ionized) by devices from the manufacturer EnagicTM. Kangenwasser® is fundamental alkaline water, whereby the pH value can vary between 8,5 and 9,5. In addition, strong Kangen Water® with a pH value of around 11 can also be produced; However, this is not suitable for drinking, but is used as a textile cleaning agent or for washing food.

Kangen® water and its benefits

Fundamentally, Kangen Water® is similar to the so-called hexagonal water, characterized by three essential properties that are positive for human health:

  1. Thanks to its slightly alkaline pH value, it helps to deacidify the organism - an important quality given today's diet, which is predominantly characterized by acidic pH values.
  2. It has a high anti-oxidant effect and therefore helps to eliminate free radicals in the body.
  3. It forms particularly small molecule clusters, which allows water to penetrate better into human cells, where the body needs it.

How Kangen® water can be made

Kangen Water® can also be produced in private households without much effort. Devices from the LevelukTM product line from EnagicTM are used for this purpose. These are simply connected to the water pipe and treat the water using electrolysis – similar to commercially available water ionizers. The main difference is that LevelukTM machines can also produce highly acidic water, suitable for sterilizing food or cleaning glass surfaces.

Investing in such a device can be worthwhile for private households that want to process their regular tap water into extremely digestible drinking water over several years or use it for various cleaning purposes.

Below you will find an excerpt from a book by Karl Heinz Asenbaum, who deals with the topic of Kangen Water® in detail.

Hello Mr Akgün,

Enagic advertises that their devices are so unique. In addition to its longevity, they also write that the water, in addition to being alkaline, also has a very high ORP content and a very small cluster structure.

What about other devices? Isn't alkaline water very antioxidant and naturally small-clustered anyway?

Thank you and best regards
Carola S

Hello Ms. S.,
Thank you for your feedback.

That with the Kangen Enagic Ionizers and the other manufacturer brands are like cars:
They get us all from A to B, some faster, some slower, some break down more often, but others use better fuel, etc.

It's the same with the ionizers, same technology, same materials (electrodes made of titanium, galvanic coating made of platinum), just outdated, since the Kangen Enagic systems don't have a flow indicator on the display, and the Kangen Water systems don't have satisfactory limescale protection and can only be installed on the faucet with a large plastic diverter valve. You can't regulate the flow either, which is essential. The faster the water flows through a Kangen water ionizer or water ionizer in general, the weaker the results.

The main value that tells you how powerful an ionizer is is the molecular hydrogen content.
At Kangen this is around 1200ppb (parts per trillion, equivalent to 1,2 mg H2 per liter of water).

With our best ionizers at 1600-1700 ppb, more is not possible:

www.aquacentrum.de/shop/aquavolta-moses-7-wasserioniser/
www.aquacentrum.de/shop/aquavolta-eca-plus-wasserioniser/

The last water ionizer, the ECA Plus Water Tractor is the better alternative to the Kangen, all with modern technology.
With flow displays for the current flow, in liters/minute and also the remaining filter running times for both filters.
It also has flow regulators. A real dosing pump for dosing the brine. 2 electrolysis cells, each intended for its respective purpose. Can be permanently installed and installed on the faucet. and much more.

Just test one and compare it with a Kangen that may be available
pH value and redox value for example
I also have the blue drops for you to test, which I would then donate to you:

Hope this helps you
I look forward to further questions

Thanks for the reply.

We have hardness level 21. Do I now have to descale the device every 3 weeks? Our neighbor has the Kangen device and I think he said he has to do it once a year. Or was that service? Does the ECA Plus also have to be sent in for service once a year, like the Kangen Enagic Leveluk water ionizers?

Reply from Yasin Akgün on October 12th. 2016:

Hello Mr. R.,

You will notice the time for descaling because the water that comes out of the top will eventually become thinner from the jet and less from the flow volume per unit of time.

What comes out of the wastewater hose becomes more and more, so to speak, beats the water that came out at the top in terms of volume flow.

Depending on the slowness of the inflowing water and the ionization level set, you should descale every 3-12 weeks; if your hardness is 21 dH, it is better to descale every 3-6 weeks. It's not difficult: www.aquacentrum.de/ioniservertrag/

Your neighbor is probably running a very high flow and not the strongest setting, and probably doesn't even notice if it has calcification because water always comes out with few bubbles.

He doesn't work to extremes because he doesn't know how to work to extremes.

The Kangen Enagic Leveluk water ionizers do not have a flow meter and no person has explained the flow issue to him.

The slower the flow, the stronger the results, the faster the scale build-up in the water ionizer outlet

Hope this helps you

Kind regards from Munich

Ask if we Kangen Enagic K8 tested and how it compares to the ECA Plus Water Tractor

Dear Yasin,

I'm looking for a water ionizer and got one at home yesterday K8 Kangen tried machine. Since the price seemed very high to me, I researched on the Internet and found Aquacentrum... and watched practically all the videos 😉 First of all, thank you for your professionalism and enthusiasm!

As for the questions… Have you ever K8 Kangen tested? If yes, what do you think about it?

At the presentation of ECA Tractor you talk about ECA technology as something special that previously only Langen had water for. Can you please explain to me what it means to have a device that has ECA technology?
I live in Italy, if I order something from Aquacentrum and have problems, who should I contact?

Kind regards Irene*

Liebe Irene,

Thank you for your email query, which I would be happy to answer.

I haven't tried the Kangen K8 water ionizer yet, but I've already followed it on YouTube videos.

Unfortunately, the Japanese still haven't learned from modern water ionizer models because they still have:

  • Unfortunately there is no display of the current flow. This is essential because the faster the water flows through the (Kangen) water ionizer, the weaker the end result will be
  • Insufficient protection against calcification of the electrodes: Kangen itself recommends decalcifying Kangen water ionizers every 2 weeks if the tap water is hard or very hard. What happens if you don't decalcify regularly? The values decrease until no more alkaline water is produced. Modern water ionizers from Korea do not have this disease or cause it. Descaling only needs to be carried out after several months or sometimes years.
  • No sensible decalcification concept. This time they have installed a pump etc., but a concentrated citric acid solution is then sent through drop by drop. It's much easier with a pump and citric acid and then in the circuit. This works with every water ionizer, including all Kangen systems. More on this page: www.aquacentrum.de/ioniservertrag/
  • And then of course the price because of the network marketing system behind Kangen sales. This doesn’t make a good impression on the other water ionizer brands. Anything that costs over 2500 euros is overpriced.

To the ECA Plus Water Tractor | All in one water ionizer

In our opinion, this is currently the most modern and versatile water ionizer on the market. It has two different water cells, one for each different type of water. One with 7 electrodes for the salted, strong anolyte and catolyte (pH 2 to pH 12,5).

The ECA Plus also has a flow indicator, a flow control knob, and a flow sensor that automatically switches the device off if there is no water flow. The running times of both filters are also shown in liter accuracy on the display. The brine dosing pump is an electric dosing pump, and not a mechanical Venturi pump like the Kangen Enagic water ionizers, which can easily become clogged with small pieces of limescale and should also be descaled.

You can not only install the AquaVolta® ECA Plus Water Tractor on the tap using the small chrome-plated metal diverter valve, but also firmly attach it to the cold water pipe using the included T-piece. This is only possible to a limited extent with the Kangen Enagic water ionizers if you have the parts, and it is still very user-unfriendly.

More about installation on this website: www.aquacentrum.de/installation-wasserfilter-wasserioniser-untertischioniserer/

I hope this information helps you. Looking forward to more questions, love, Yasin

Email response from Irene about maintenance Italy the next day

Thanks Yasin,
very helpful!
But I haven't found the answer to the question about possible maintenance in Italy.

Irene*

Yasin Akgün's answer to the question, Maintenance Italia

Hello dear Irene,
Thank you for your quick response.
Basically, our systems should almost never break down.
The EOS systems never break:
www.aquacentrum.de/shop/eos-revelation-ll-untertisch-wasserioniser/
www.aquacentrum.de/shop/eos-genesis-wasserioniser/

If you want to work with adding salt, which is usually not done in practice because it is a hassle, then use the ECA Plus.
Of course it can break down.

But only when it's just arrived, when it's running, then it's running...
But in case of a defect, you would send it to us and we would repair it immediately and send it back to you. We will reimburse shipping. You would also have to do it when we have an Italian partner at some point, think next year. Then go to Italy.

But as a rule, if you descale every few months, nothing should happen.

Kind regards
Age

Descaling instructions for the two Kangen water ionizers | Kangen Enagic SD 501 & Kangen Enagic K 8

This video explains the descaling methods recommended by Kangen. In our opinion, too ineffective and also time-consuming. Especially with the Kangen K8: The citric acid for descaling, called cleaning powder, is a sticky matter. Pump impellers can become calcified and cause even more problems.

Complex decalcification Kangen Enagic SD501 with citric acid and decalcification filter

The best way to descale your Kangen water ionizer is the old-fashioned way, using one descaling pump and citric acid. It's called Deep Cleaning in Kangen language and is only carried out for a service fee when you send your device in to Kangen.
