Preface

The relationship between dissolved H2, pH and redox potential (ORP).

An analysis using the Nernst equation.

For decades, alkaline water ionizers have been marketed claiming to provide various health benefits. Marketing people use an ORP meter to show that their water is “different” from other types of water.

Many ionized water advocates are aware that ionizers produce water with a negative ORP value (-100 mV to -750 mV or more), while most other waters have a positive ORP value.

Attempts to explain why water has a negative ORP value and what the measurement actually means have given rise to many theories, including that the water contains "free electrons" or a "special structure."

But until recently, the fact that ionized water contains dissolved H2 gas (produced during electrolysis) was not widely known nor that dissolved hydrogen, a reducing agent, is responsible for the negative ORP value.

In 2007, a landmark research study showed that drinking water containing dissolved hydrogen gas (H2) could provide therapeutic benefits. Over the past decade, the number of research studies confirming the therapeutic benefits of H2 has increased significantly.

As knowledge of the benefits of molecular hydrogen has spread in recent years, some manufacturers have improved the design of their existing basic ionizers (which were originally designed as "pH" machines, not "hydrogen-water" devices), to increase the hydrogen gas content in the water.

Recently, new, innovative technologies have emerged that are designed from the ground up to maximize dissolved hydrogen content. These include neutral pH hydrogen infusion machines, battery-operated portable hydrogen bottles, special prepackaged bottles and bags, and tablets that produce H2 gas.

As the popularity of hydrogen water products continues to grow, consumers are interested not only in the therapeutic benefits of H2, but also in how much hydrogen their water actually contains. Manufacturers' and retailers' websites and marketing brochures make many claims about the performance levels of their devices, declaring their ability to produce water with a more "negative ORP" than their competitors.

The traditional view of ORP measurement is: “The more negative the reading, the greater the therapeutic benefit of the water.” Since there is a tendency to believe that “more is better,” the idea that a higher value in the negative range is superior to a lower one seems plausible at first glance.

The growing awareness of H2 as a therapeutic, combined with consumers' desire to know exactly how much hydrogen their water contains, led to the demand for a meter that eliminates the ambiguity and inconsistency associated with the ORP meter.

In recent years, relatively inexpensive portable "dissolved hydrogen meters" (priced at about $500) have appeared on the market that claim to accurately measure dissolved hydrogen gas.

Instead of millivolt units like the ORP meter, these meters have a digital display that shows dissolved hydrogen values in units more appropriate for measuring dissolved compounds, namely parts per million (ppm) / parts per billion (ppb). 1.

At first glance they seem to be a good choice for measuring dissolved hydrogen. However, these meters are still based on the ORP measurement platform and therefore can only measure the ORP of water, not dissolved hydrogen gas.

Although the ORP measurement represents the tendency of water to act as either an oxidizing or reducing agent, differing conclusions about the significance of the negative ORP measurement must be based on a thorough understanding of the chemistry associated with the ORP.

This article will answer many questions regarding H2, pH, and negative ORP, but the focus will be on explaining what negative ORP can and cannot tell us about the water, its therapeutic benefits, and dissolved hydrogen gas content. While this can be a complex and confusing topic, we will explain the relevant concepts step by step, using well-defined terminology and easy-to-understand language combined with lots of graphics and illustrations.

To gain valuable insight into the subject of ORP, we will use the Nernst equation to examine the relationship between dissolved H2 gas content, pH and ORP measurement. To properly introduce the topic, it will be helpful to start with the terminology and basic concepts associated with the topic of ORP.

Water ionizers, water filters & hydrogen or H2 generators for water treatment

Drinking water treatment in your own home – Aquacentrum Munich is your competent contact

Healthy drinking water is an important part of a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. However, there are many options for treating water and it is important to find the best solution for your individual needs.

Water treatment systems such as filtration systems, reverse osmosis systems, home water filters and ionizing systems all offer various advantages and disadvantages. Although there is no single definition of “healthy water,” there are some areas where science agrees on the benefits of certain water treatment methods, particularly in the area of Hydrogen therapy.

Ultimately, though, it's all about making sure the water you drink tastes pleasant to you and meets your needs. Some like soft, mineral-poor water, others prefer strongly alkaline water. We can help you choose the best water treatment system for your needs and provide you with a variety of options. Let's find the perfect system for you together!

The following filter systems and water ionizers are currently our most popular products for water treatment in the home:

The principle of water treatment via ionization is amazingly simple and was invented in Munich's Glockenbachviertel in 1931:

A pair of Water Ionizers stores electrical energy in the form of hydrogen in drinking water. The energy source hydrogen makes it easier to drink than conventional water and offers many advantages. This enriched form is also called active water or alkaline Hydrogen water (Important Information!). Research into “healing water from the socket” has exploded in the last ten years.

A lot has also changed in terms of the design of the devices. Just like a fully automatic coffee machine, an electrolytic system for drinking water treatment should fit your home and your individual lifestyle.

Tabletop ionizer and Undersink Water Ionizer are currently the most popular. The internal filters ensure a purity and quality standard above the drinking water standard. But also mobile water ionizers additionally raise the pH value and hydrogen content of the water, which would otherwise not be present. This is how it is created Hydrogen water (newer findings) or alkaline water – good for acid-base balance, among other things. At the same time, acidic wastewater is produced, but this is not a problem with a stationary device and also offers some useful properties.

Mobile devices have also been used for over 5 years now battery offered: e.g. the AquaVolta H2 Turbo Hydrogen Generator keeps the water pH neutral and does not produce wastewater. Thanks to sophisticated high-pressure technology, it can store even more hydrogen than a normal water ionizer - although the latter is more convenient. Energy on the go – always fresh, everywhere.

Our two winning products in terms of very high H2 content and also developed by us and partly manufactured in Germany:

Water Ionizers are special water filter systems that filter tap water and give it special properties through an electrolysis process. At the push of a button you get clean, ionized alkaline activated water, which, in addition to its fine taste, has other advantages over “normal”, unfiltered tap water.

The most important factor here is Hydrogen! In this more in-depth FAQ post about hydrogen We will explain to you the central importance of this chemical element for water treatment in the household.

What are the benefits of ionized water (also referred to as... alkaline active water or Kangen water) offers you, you can find out - in addition to answers to many other questions - the information provided by Karl Heinz Asenbaum FAQ pages. In particular, you will find a short but informative article about alkaline active water. Please also note the latest lecture by Karl Heinz Asenbaum on the topic of basic, electroactivated, ionized hydrogen water.

Video: Baby Milk & Water Selection | Karl Heinz Asenbaum

Anyone who has or wants to have a baby should think about water and water treatment

It is now almost undisputed that breastfeeding is the best option when mother and child are healthy. We all need water to live. A baby takes it in the form of milk, which is 90 percent water.

However, there is no DIN standard for breast milk. There is also no DIN standard for the water used to mix milk powder. A pity!

The values most similar to natural breast milk are obtained using basic H2 water (hydrogen) from a water ionizer, which first filters the tap water and can then generate pH values around pH10 and natural breast milk redox values for the mixing water at the push of a button. UHT milk is a thing of the past - one day everyone will only drink H2 milk. Because one Water Ionizers is like a cow in the fridge.

In our opinion, the children who we have now been able to observe over the long term as they were raised with alkaline active water from an early age are thriving more than splendidly.

Do you have any questions about hydrogen, water ionizers, reverse osmosis systems, water filters or H2 inhalation?
