H2 Blue Kit® eco formula | Hydrogen test liquid by titration method | developed by Molecular Hydrogen Foundation (MHF)

After the role of hydrogen was recognized as important, a supposed hydrogen measuring device came onto the market in Japan (Trustlex ENH 1000), which calculates the dissolved hydrogen content from the measured redox potential using an experience-based conversion factor of approx. (-)2,14 However, this factor has been criticized by numerous experts and Trustlex itself admits that the device does not work properly.

A laboratory determination of the hydrogen that is actually soluble in water is actually still very complex and still fraught with unexplained problems. Electronic measuring devices require a high level of specialist knowledge and are very expensive.

We therefore recommend a chemical titration method using the H2 Blue Kit ®, which was developed by the Molecular Hydrogen Foundation and further developed in collaboration with us. Because they contain the precious metal platinum, these test drops are relatively expensive.

Do not drink the test liquid and keep it away from children! Use protective gloves, a wipeable surface and pay attention to textiles. The drops contain methylene blue, a very intense dye.

Molecular hydrogen content test

Works at all water ionizers – even with just Hydrogen producing ionizers without pH increase

Procedure for testing the molecular hydrogen content with the H2 Blue® Kit

H2 Blue Kit hydrogen test liquid by titration method practice

The molecular hydrogen content test with the H2 blue® kit is carried out immediately after production. To do this, carefully fill a 6 ml water sample into the measuring cup and add a drop of the blue measuring liquid. Each drop that discolors represents 0,1 ppm (=100 ppb) of dissolved hydrogen gas. If a drop no longer discolors itself, you can stir gently.

If the liquid still does not change color, the last drop added to the water no longer counts. Water under normal atmospheric pressure can contain up to 1,6 ppm hydrogen gas (full saturation). With the AquaVolta® hydrogen booster You can also produce supersaturated water with over 6 ppm. However, this falls back to full saturation within a few minutes when the sample comes into contact with the normal atmosphere. If you want a lot of hydrogen, you have to drink it quickly.

The measurement of molecular hydrogen in hydrogen rich water (HRW) is often carried out using inadequate methods.

The educational video here explains the connection between pH value, redox potential (ORP) and the ppm value of dissolved hydrogen.

What is presented goes very deep into the subject matter, please also note the entire individual sections of the entire PDF, further down on this page.

Important findings after the numerous hydrogen tests:

  1. Water ionizers for the production of basic hydrogen water are still the most useful water ionizers because, on the one hand, they still have the highest hydrogen contents to date of up to 2,5 ppm (parts per million) or 2500 ppb (parts per billion).
  2. Battery-operated, pressurized, portable hydrogen water generators are a good place to start, but they only produce a fraction of the amount of hydrogen compared to a flow-through water ionizer, which is why you need to carry out at least 5 minutes of electrolysis to produce around 350 ML of hydrogen water a content of 1,0 ppm.
  3. The only globally accepted and practical measurement method is this Titration method by H2 Blue Kit® hydrogen test liquid. Be careful with the electronic pseudo-hydrogen test device called “Trustlex ENH-1000”, it does not measure the molecularly dissolved hydrogen content, but rather the redox potential and is therefore not meaningful.

2 Reviews for H2 Blue Kit® eco formula | Hydrogen test liquid by titration method

  1. Walter R -

    Hello dear Aquacentrum team!
Firstly, congratulations on your excellent educational work on water.
The videos and information on their site are truly world class.
I have a question please, I bought a Biontech water ionizer about a year ago (see attachment) and now, based on your information, I checked the hydrogen content with your H2 Blue Kit Drops and lo and behold, not even on the first drop
The blue does not dissolve, neither at the 7,5 ph level nor at the 10 ph level.
Do you have any experience with this device and is it possible that despite the ORP value of approx. -750 at level 10.00 no ppm of molecular hydrogen can be detected.
If I understand it correctly, it is hydrogen that is crucial for health and not the PH value.
I would be very grateful for your answer.
    Thank you in advance
    Walter R

  2. Anne P -

Dear Mr. Akgün, dear Mr. Asenbaum,
After all the requests, detours and inconveniences, I would like to thank you today with a success report
the Elegance achieves 0,4 PPM; With the additional boosting the value is 1 PPM (3 minutes with the booster open and twice 5 minutes with the closed one)
Thanks to Mr. Asenbaum's advice that the test liquid should not be shaken but stirred, the error was due to incorrect handling of the blue-kit test.
A kind of “anti-James Bond” approach is required: “not shaken, but stirred” is the solution 🙂
Thank you for your patience and all the effort that went into my “water processes” –
Good thing wants to have time
    Warm greetings from Düsseldorf
    Anne P
