Can Grander water be easily ionized?

We have had a Grander water system for years and want to keep it even after purchasing a water ionizer. Can Grander water be easily ionized?

  • The process of water electrolysis (“ionization”) causes a real and measurable electrochemical change in the water. Since water does not undergo any measurable change due to “bordering”, so-called Grander water can be ionized in exactly the same way as the same water “unbordering”. There is no deviation in the measurement results of both types of water. We tested this on several Grander systems.
  • Background: In the name of the Tyrolean Johann Grander, various sales companies offer water that flows past a metal cylinder filled with so-called information water. This is intended to change its unspecified “structure” and give it special properties such as increased self-cleaning power, increased dissolving power, and changed microbiological behavior.
  • Areas of application for Grander water include drinking water supply, improving swimming pool water quality, revitalizing spring, well and deep water and in agriculture. Allegedly, a glass of Grander water can also change the water in a glass next to it through such information transfer so that it acquires the properties of Grander water.
  • Sales received support from a diploma thesis (Klaus Faißner) from the University of Graz (2000), which determined that the only difference to normal water was that bordered water should have a lower surface tension. As a result, some swimming pools, hotels and many private individuals bought Grander systems for water revitalization, which are still in operation today, like yours apparently. Even the famous Lipizzaner horses were given Grander water to drink and Johann Grander received an Austrian medal.
  • In 2005, however, the sales company for Grander water in New Zealand was sentenced to pay damages of the equivalent of 72.000 euros. The judge in the case described the products in question as quackery and pseudoscience.
  • In proceedings 4 R 1/06f, the Vienna Higher Regional Court finally ruled on August 17, 2006 in Austria that the term “parascientific nonsense originating from the esoteric milieu” for Granderwasser was factually justified.
  • Studies conducted using scientific methodology did not confirm any of the effects claimed by Grander. In particular, it does not cause any change in the surface tension of the bounded water. The University of Graz made a methodological mistake because it used a Gardena garden hose with plasticizers for the Grander water, which reduced the surface tension.
